   Stephen West has created some great, funky designs. Whether you want to work on something out-of-the-box or just challenge yourself with interesting construction, here is your chance to have fun with us (and maybe get some help, if needed). FREE! 3-D Wet Felting Workshop: Saturday June 15 from 9 AM- Noon

   Learn wet felting basics while you make a 3-dimensional work of art. You'll get to play with wool in a new fun way! Wear clothes that can get wet. $30 plus materials.


Needle Felting Fun: Saturday June 29 from 10 AM- Noon

   Learn how to make felted flowers, embellish something with felt, and how to create a 3-D figure. You'll have enough time to finish at least one creation! Bring something that you'd like to embellish. $25 includes use of equipment and materials.


Kids Intro to Knitting: Thursday, July 11 from 1- 3 PM

​   Learn how to knit, cast on, and bind off while starting a dishcloth. Anyone age 7 and older can join us for this summer vacation edition of beginning knitting! $25 includes pattern and dishcloth yarn.


Color Theory for Stranded Knitting: Saturday, July 13 from 9 AM- Noon

   We will use Kate Davies' pattern "Peerie Flooers" as a template for exploring how colors work in stranded knitting. Make your hat bright and cheery, or dark and mysterious; learn to create your own color combinations that make the pattern shine while still expressing your style. Basic stranded knitting experience is required. $30 plus pattern.  


Kid's Tye-Dye: Saturday, July 13 from 2- 3:30 PM

   A great way to have some fun with color. Dye a silk scarf, socks, or a bright t-shirt. When you sign up, we will give you info on items you can choose to dye. $15 plus the cost of the items to dye (or bring your own.) Register by June 29th to allow time for ordering t-shirts, etc.


Beginning Knitting: Tuesdays, July 16, 23, and 30 from 6:30- 8 PM
   Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off while you make a basket-weave scarf. $45 includes pattern and practice yarn.  


Kids Wet Felting Fun: Thursday, July 18 from 1- 3 PM

   This class is a chance for the kids to get their hands really clean! We will have fun with wool and hot soapy water; making a ball and an art piece (wall hanging, bookmark, or bracelet). $24 includes materials; wear clothes appropriate for getting your hands and arms wet.

​   Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want.  We'll play with handpainting, gradients, kettle dyeing, and more.  You will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit.  $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

Kid's Knitting: (2 sessions of 2 hours)
   Learn how to cast on, knit, and bind off while you make a fun bag, bracelet, or headband. This class is for kids 7 and up. $40 includes yarn and a set of needles.


Infant Hat Knit-a-long:​
​   Please consider joining us to help raise awareness of heart disease in children.  We'll be knitting preemie and newborn hats in red and donating them to the American Heart Association.  They are hoping to have enough hats for all babies born in February which is Heart Month. You'll need red washable cotton, wool, or acrylic and needles in 12" or 16" circular or double points. You can find patterns when you google Little Hats, Big Hearts Madison. We'll be here to help you along and feed you treats!

 

Intro to Brioche: (2 hour class)
   The basic workings of this intriguing technique will be revealed. Brioche stitch yields a very cushy reversible fabric, which we will create in two colors.  $15; bring 2 colors of medium weight yarn, and needles appropriate for that yarn.

Basic Crochet: (3 hour class)
    Learn the basics of crochet and make a fun flower along the way!  Bring some worsted weight smooth yarn and bring or borrow a crochet hook.  $30


Beginning Knitting: (3 week class 4.5 hours total)
   Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off while you make a basket-weave scarf. $45 includes pattern and practice yarn.

 

Fix-It Master: (2 hour class)
   You are the master of your knitting! Take this workshop and get more comfortable and confident fixing mistakes in stockinette and garter stitch. We'll use needles, a crochet hook, and fingers...whatever it takes to get rid of problems. $20 (bring smooth light color worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to class.)

​   Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want.  We'll play with hand painting, kettle dyeing, and more.  You will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit.  $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

​Entrelac Workshop:
​    Learn the basics of entrelac in two colors and get started on a cute hat (Ashlar on Ravelry) in your choice of sizes. $30 includes pattern.

Stranded Knitting:​ (3 hour class)
   In this class you will learn classic stranded knitting with two colors at a time, using the beautiful pattern, Basic Norwegian Star Hat.  You'll need to knit the ribbed brim before class starts, so we can get to the learning right away!  Kits for other two-color hats will also be available.  $30 plus the cost of a kit (about $15) and pattern.

Intro to Rigid-Heddle Weaving: (3 hour class)
​    This is a beginning weaving class.  You will learn how to warp a Cricket loom and weave a scarf. $30 for the class plus the cost of yarn (we'll have you pick something out when you sign up.) A Cricket loom can be rented for $20/month if you do not own one. This rental fee may be applied to the purchase of a loom in the future.
