Tomte Hat Decorating: Saturday February 2 from 10- Noon at the Old Schoolhouse.
   Add another dimension to the Scandihoovian Winter Festival by embellishing your Tomte hat with needle-felting. Have fun and get creative; no experience necessary! Children are welcome with adult supervision. $2 fee covers materials and instruction; hats will be available for $10 if you don’t already have one.

Peabody Sweater Spectacular: Wednesdays February 7, 21, and 28 from 6:30- 8 PM 

   Learn important knitting techniques while we knit the gorgeous Peabody. You will work on getting the right fit, beautiful seaming, and incorporating set-in sleeves and lace to a sweater. This is a great intermediate sweater pattern to increase your knitting and finishing skills. $45 plus the pattern.  Homework: Purchase yarn ahead, knit a 6"x6" swatch at 4.5 sts/inch. Don't break the yarn, but bind off and leave attached to the ball.


Olympic KAL: Tuesday February 13 from 5- 9 PM

   Join us for a fun night of knitting/crochet and watching the Olympics. We'll have popcorn, tea, and some games of our own, too! FREE


3-D Wet Felting Workshop: Saturday February 10 from 9 AM- Noon

   Learn wet felting basics while you make a 3-dimensional work of art. You'll get to play with wool in a fun new way! Wear clothes that can get wet.  $30 plus materials (usually around $10).


Basic Crochet Workshop: Saturday February 10 from 1- 4 PM

   Learn the basics of crochet and make a fun flower and swatch along the way! Bring some worsted weight smooth yarn and bring or borrow a crochet hook. $30.


Find Your Fade-Reboot: Saturday March 3 from 2- 4 PM

   Did you start a Find Your Fade shawl, but haven't finished it? Are you still just ogling the Fade Kit in your stash? We'll help you figure out how to start or where you are in the pattern and get you on track to finish. $10.


Fix-It Master: Tuesday March 6 from 6- 8 PM

   You are the master of your knitting! Take this workshop and get more comfortable and confident fixing mistakes in stockinette and garter stitch. We'll use needles, a crochet hook, and fingers...whatever it takes to get rid of problems. $20 (bring smooth light color worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to class.)


Stranded Knitting:​ Tuesday March 13 from 6- 9 PM
   In this class you will learn classic stranded knitting with two colors at a time, using the beautiful pattern, Basic Norwegian Star Hat.  You'll need to knit the ribbed brim before class starts, so we can get to the learning right away!  Kits for other two-color hats will also be available.  $30 plus the cost of a kit (about $15) and pattern.


Magical Mosaic Shawl: Saturday March 17 9AM- noon
    Learn this fun and popular technique for knitting with 2 colors. It looks more complicated than it is! You only knit with 1 color in each row.  You'll learn new kinds of slipped stitches to create the intricate-looking texture of the shawl. The Long Skinny: (2 hour class)
    Check out this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-long-skinny. Then gather up all your bits and ends of fingering weight and sock yarn and sign up for this workshop! We will help you plan the colors, understand the decreases and increases used, and show you how to do an i-cord bind off. We have yarn 'schnibbles' available if you need to round out your yarn supply.  $20 plus pattern.

Infant Hat Knit-a-long:​
​   Please consider joining us to help raise awareness of heart disease in children.  We'll be knitting preemie and newborn hats in red and donating them to the American Heart Association.  They are hoping to have enough hats for all babies born in February which is Heart Month. You'll need red washable cotton, wool, or acrylic and needles in 12" or 16" circular or double points. You can find patterns when you google Little Hats, Big Hearts Madison. We'll be here to help you along and feed you treats!


Intro to Brioche: (2 hour class)
   The basic workings of this intriguing technique will be revealed. Brioche stitch yields a very cushy reversible fabric, which we will create in two colors.  $15; bring 2 colors of medium weight yarn, and needles appropriate for that yarn.

Beginning Knitting: (3 week class 4.5 hours total)
   Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off while you make a basket-weave scarf. $45 includes pattern and practice yarn.

Hand-Dyeing Workshop: (4 hour workshop usually on a Saturday)
​   Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want.  We'll play with hand painting, kettle dyeing, and more.  You will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit.  $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

​Open Dye Day: (all day first come, first serve)
   Would you like to play with dye? Want someone else to do the prep work and cleanup? Drop by The Cat and Crow back room today to dye a skein of yarn, a sock blank, or some roving. $10 (to dye up to 1 lb. of fiber). Yarn and fiber to dye will be available to purchase.
